GERALD HENDERSON HOSTS INAUGURAL GERALD HENDERSON CHARITY GOLF INVITATIONAL TO BENEFIT A CHILD’S PLACE
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Monday, August 24, 2015, former Charlotte Hornets’ and current Portland Trail Blazers’ guard Gerald Henderson will host the2nd Annual Gerald Henderson Charity Golf Invitational, benefiting A Child’s Place of Charlotte, Inc. and presented by ACN. The outing will take place at Trump National Charlotte in Mooresville, North Carolina.
The 18-Hole Gerald Henderson Charity Golf Invitational will commence with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. A ticketed brunch will take place starting at 8 a.m. for sponsors and special invited guests which will feature a silent auction. Auction winners can take home prizes including autographed items from Michael Jordan and Mike Kryzewski, a piece of the Boston Celtics floor, Billy Joel concert suite tickets and many more.Celebrity guests scheduled to participate in the tournament include Jay Bilas, Matt Carroll, Phil Crosby, Julius “the Doctor” Erving, Trai Essex,Harvey Gantt, Richard “Rip” Hamilton, Gerald Henderson, Sr., Antawn Jamison, Brevin Knight, Branford Marsalis, Sean McDonough, Nazr Mohammed, Buzz Peterson, Mike Quick, Rick Robey, Max Starks, Terry Taylor, Yancey Thigpen, Perry Tuttle, Tony Womack, and Al Wood. All teams for the Friday tournament will be comprised of a four-person group and one celebrity, and play will consist of a Scramble Format with team prizes and trophies awarded to the top finishers. There will also be a chance to win a brand new 2015 GMC Sierra and vacation packages courtesy of Griffin Motors for a hole-in-one, as well as awards and prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive winners. A number of local companies will be participating as on-course vendors, including Newk’s Eatery, Sticks and Cones and Blind Squirrel Brewery.

A Child’s Place of Charlotte, Inc. (ACP) is a 501(c)(3) organization that works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.ACP provides a variety of services to over 2,500 homeless children in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools on an annual basis.

Gerald Henderson is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Charlotte Hornets. He has resided in Charlotte since 2009, when the then-Bobcats’ selected him 12th in the NBA Draft. A native of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, Gerald graduated from Episcopal High School where he was honored to become a McDonald’s All-American and received a basketball scholarship to Duke University. After completing three years at Duke, Gerald elected to enter the NBA Draft, and he is currently pursuing coursework to complete his degree in psychology. Gerald has actively maintained an interest in giving back to his community and supporting nonprofit organizations in both Philadelphia and Charlotte. In March 2012, Gerald was the recipient of the NBA’a Kia Community Assist Award in recognition of his outstanding efforts in the community and his ongoing philanthropic and charitable work. He will be hosting the second annual Gerald Henderson Charity Golf Invitational presented by ACN in August 2015 to benefit A Child’s Place of Charlotte, Inc., which provides services to homeless children in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
